Nissan’s GT-R set the bar earlier this year when it turned in a lap time of 7 minutes 29 seconds on Germany’s famed Nürburgring, but General Motors has beat them with a time of 7:26.4 in its new Chevy Corvette ZR1. General Motors has released the in-car footage from that record-setting lap, which took place on June 27th. Jim Mero was the pilot on that lap, running a completely stock Corvette ZR1 on pump gas.

This video is amazing. Looks like he hit about 178 MPH at certain times.
